Presentations within the Metals track will highlight projects funded through the DoD ManTech and IBIF programs that reduce cost and cycle time, improve manufacturing capability, and increase performance or producibility.  Topics of interest to the Metals Processing and Fabrication Subpanel include:

  1. Integrated Computational Materials Engineering (ICME)
  2. Processing technologies, including pre-processing and post processing, to manufacture lighter weight metals or hybrid systems such as MMC’s, encapsulated ceramics, etc.
  3. Advanced joining technologies
  4. Rapid qualification approaches for novel metals processing methods
  5. Life extension of legacy parts (i.e. manufacturing technology for repair, reset, and or upgrades)
  6. Novel fabrication and control technologies for manufacturing metals such as intelligent machining, nondestructive testing, and quality assurance methods
  7. Process models related to materials/microstructure effects that provide a reliable simulation capability to guide factory floor fabrication processes to shorten development time and achieve a quality part the first time through the process
  8. Novel production methods for strategic materials
  9. Lightweighting of designs.
