Welcome to the 2010 Defense Manufacturing Conference (DMC)!
The DMC is our nation’s best and largest forum for scientists, technologists, engineers, managers, leaders and policy makers in the defense manufacturing industrial base. The meeting is the product of a partnership of the Military Departments and Agencies of the Department of Defense. An unprecedented 100% of those who provided solicited feedback from last year's event said they would not hesitate to attend once again and recommended their colleagues do so as well.
The 2010 DMC is hosted by the Office of the Secretary of Defense and the Missile Defense Agency and will address the conference theme of removing the barriers to “ACHIEVING AN INNOVATIVE, RESPONSIVE AND SUSTAINABLE NATIONAL SECURITY INDUSTRIAL BASE.” All of the military departments, defense agencies, many non-defense agencies, industry and academia will participate in this seminal national event; for both defense and non-defense related manufacturing technology development and application.
DMC 2010 will reflect a growing blend of tradition and change. The traditional Joint Defense Manufacturing Technology Panel (JDMTP) programs will, once again, form the technical nucleus of the conference with afternoon Concurrent Sessions devoted to these efforts and other relevant topics. In contrast, the morning General Sessions will provide a unique and diverse forum for invited presentations from leaders in manufacturing and high-level stakeholders from:
- The Administration, Congress and the GAO
- The DOD, Military Departments and Defense Agencies (MDA, DLA and DARPA)
- Non-Defense Agencies including the Departments of Energy and Commerce
- Small, medium and large Industrial enterprises and Industry Trade Associations
- Academic manufacturing researchers and sponsoring agencies such as the National Science Foundation
Highlighted topics at this year's DMC feature many relevant and timely issues including:
- The new National Defense Industrial Base Vision, Policies and Strategy
- AdministrationNational Manufacturing Strategy and Agenda
- Changes in the reauthorization of the Title III Defense Production Act and the Small Business Innovation Research programs
- Innovation in sustainable and “green” manufacturing with highly efficient energy use
- Revitalization and coordination of Advanced Manufacturing Enterprise Initiatives
As we face economic challenges and multiple regional conflicts, many opportunities to contribute to recovery and victory will be evident at this year’s Defense Manufacturing Conference. If you are a participant in the Defense Industrial Base and Technology community, we invite you to attend DMC 2010. We hope to exceed your expectations. |
